Are you a mug person?

Because I certainly am. I will always buy one more cool/funny/huge/vintage/colorful mug even if I don’t have room to store it at home anymore. This of course happens to Mr. N’s desperation. I actually think he is trying to find ways to “misplace” some of them.

I never drink tea from a coffee mug and I never drink coffee on working days from a weekend coffee mug. “Why?” you ask… Oh well! One of the reasons could be that I have just enough mugs in order to be able to do that. And the other, the most important one actually, is that each mug is for a certain state of mind and heart. Oh and season of course! They are not to be messed up or I get confused…and not know how to feel…

Full of morning energy?

Is it time for the afternoon coffee already?

Let the weekend relaxation begin?

We wouldn’t want me to start singing “Let it snow” in the middle of July just because the Starbucks Christmas Mug was the first one in the cupboard, now would we?

Either way…in those mornings when Mr. N is really sleepy and he pours the coffee in the wrong mug it doesn’t quite taste the same to me. But I’m planning a new cupboard orientation session soon to fix that. ūüôā

Coming back

It has been almost 1 year since I haven’t posted here. A lot of things happened but through it all I’ve missed this. ¬†So now I’m coming back! This is the new and improved Design Tale and much more.Image

Cozy Wednesday

My formula for living is quite simple.
I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can. (Cary Grant)

So for Cary here, the bed should be “la creme de la creme”. How about you?

How cozy do you need your bed to be? Should it be…

cream cozy?

mountain-like cozy?
original cozy? brick cozy?stylish cozy?

Well,whichever you choose…

Dream away my friends! Dream away…

Decorate for Autumn

Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower. (Albert Camus)

This morning when I left the house I felt autumn. Cloudy, cold, windy…I love it.¬†Do you know why I love it? Because I can feel Christmas coming. ūüôā

But until then let’s see how we can decorate our homes for autumn.

Start with the dining room table,
use red and yellow apples or pumpkins and orange colored flowers,

 continue with the coffee table,

bring the fall flavors in your kitchen¬†using¬† candles, incense, or boil a pot of spices ‚Äď cinnamon sticks, cloves, and nutmeg to instantly transport your home into fall mode.

And last but not least dress up your porch or even balcony in autumn colors.

Now that the house is done take a cozy fluffy blanket, wrap it around you, take a deep breath of autumn air and let’s get ready for Halloween!

Flowers and W.B.

I’ve been away but I’m coming back with one of my favorite quotes of all times.

To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower

Hold infinity in the palms of your hand and eternity in an hour. (William Blake)

Lately I’ve been in the mood for flowers. I’ve picked some for you to choose from

for your outdoor picnic

 or your bedroom,

 dining room,

living room or

for your favorite place in your home.

It’s good to be back!

(My) Country Design – Romania

Hello dear friends,

I’ve been away on vacation and my sole purpose was to relax, eat, sleep, play and nothing more. None of these included ¬†a laptop so there you have the reason for my absence. But now I’m back and today I’m sharing with you bits and pieces from where I’ve been and what beautiful places and things I’ve seen.

The adventure started on the highest road in Romania, Transalpina which was completely amazing and breath taking.

This road eventually led us to Sebes where we had dinner in an Italian restaurant called La Dolce Vita ¬†where I had the best home made pasta I’ve tasted in a long time.

The next day we travelled back in medieval times and visited the imposing¬†Huniad Castle in Hunedoara…¬†

continuing with a walk through the beautiful city of Sibiu…

where we discovered the most original Cafe & Bistro I have ever seen. I strongly advise you not to miss the chance to have a coffee at Pardon Atelier Cafe & Bistro if you are in Sibiu.

Our medieval adventure went on to Sighisoara. I don’t think words do justice to this place so I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

And after long, amazing walks through the Citadel of Sighisoara what better place to rest than here, at Villa Franka.

On our way back we drove on the second highest road in Romania, Transfagarasan which is as beautiful as Transalpina but less wild if you ask me.

After driving for aproximately 1600 km in 5 days through I don’t know how many cities it was time for a different kind of relaxation, sitting back and doing nothing.

We wrapped up the vacation on the Romanian seaside, in Constanta and Mamaia, sipping cocktails by the pool or bathing in the Black Sea.

I really discovered some wonderful places in these weeks I’ve been away and I sincerely hope these pictures will open up your taste for Romania!
